What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It allows you to have all the latest news and features from your favourite sites delivered to you directly at the click of a button.
More and more websites are beginning to use to RSS, including The Guardian, BBC and CNN.
UK Investment Advice utilise RSS to take the hassle away from you staying up-to-date with all the very latest investment news and articles.
How do I start using RSS?
The first thing you need is an RSS news reader (also known as a News Aggregator). There are many different versions, some of which are accessed via your browser, and some of which are downloadable applications. All good news reader’s allow you to display and subscribe to the RSS feeds you want.
Once you have chosen a news reader you need to subscribe to the news feeds you want.
For UK Investment Advice, if you click on an orange RSS button on the page you can subscribe to the feeds in various ways, including by dragging the URL of the RSS feed into your news reader or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your news reader.
Browsers such as Firefox, Opera and Safari, have functionality which automatically picks up RSS feeds for you. For more details on these, please visit their websites.
